     How Mail Unknown works.

Mail Unknown IS NOT a Spam Filter...

Spam filtering is effective but has many down sides. Spam filtering is for the most part Key Word(s) based. When certain words or phrases are found in an email the email is considered spam. Some spam always slips through the filtering process and even worse some emails that you actually want get blocked. People who send spam are clever, they are continuously changing their emails which means spam filtering word lists most be updated regularly.

Mail Unknown DOES NOT use Public Block Lists...
Public Block Lists are used by some anti-spam programs and several ISP's. Public block lists are built by many people and services on the internet that have their own criteria for identifying spam emails and email servers. Some do a better job then others at this. No matter how good they do someone else determines which emails you do and do not get. Once again you could be missing emails that you wanted because the block list is filtering for you.

Ask your ISP if they are using block lists on their mail servers. If they do there's a good chance your email is being filtered without you even knowing about it. This could be why you have not received some emails you though you should have.

Mail Unknown software uses a Verify then Validate blocking method...

Mail Unknown blocks Unknown Email senders!

Mail Unknown gives you the power to control the emails you receive. All incoming emails are put on hold until the original sender has verified as a real email account and requests your permission to send you email. You then validate them by Authorizing or Blocking them. If you block them, their emails are erased without you ever seeing them. If you authorize them to email you all emails past and future received from the sender will be delivered into your current email software or service.

Below is a step by step outline of the process.

All people sending emails to Mail Unknown users have one of three status levels.
Authorized, Pending or Blocked.

1. The original email sender sends you an email.

2. Your Mail Unknown verifies that their email address is legitimate.
If their email address is fake the sender is Blocked.

3. If their email is good they are sent an email from the Mail Unknown
software requesting that they verify themselves by replying to the email.
The original sender is now in the Pending status.

4. If they never reply the sender will go to Blocked status after several days.

=== Up to this point you have not been aware of the new email ===

5. If the original sender does reply, Mail Unknown will pop up a window which
will allow you to validate them. You can Authorize or Block the sender at
    this point.

If Authorized, all of the senders past and future emails will be delivered
directly to your email software. You can always go to the Mail Unknown
software running on your computer and Block them at a later time if do
not want to receive emails from them anymore.

If you Block them, all emails will be marked as Blocked and held in your
Mail Unknown software. You will not receive them in your email software.
You can at any time look at all Blocked and Pending emails within then
Mail Unknown software for several days after their arrival.
