| Setup For Beginners... |
| |
The below is a sample for setting up your mail
software to use Mail Unknown. For this example we are using Microsoft
Outlook Express 6. This sample assumes you have basic knowledge of your
email software client and know how to edit your email account
information.Open your mail
software's email configuration or properties area and locate the the
Server Settings or POP3 Server Settings more specifically. In most cases
there are only 2 setting changes you will need to make. These setting
should be labeled pretty much the same in any email client. They should
be something like
Incoming Mail POP3 or POP3 Server and
Account Name or POP3 Account Login Name. |
| |
Step1: Sample of your CURRENT settings. |
|
 This
is the text box that contains your current POP3 email server. Write down
the text in this box, you will need it for step 2 of the setup.
Is the box that contains your emails POP3 Login or
Account Name.
These two boxes will be the only two things you will be changing. |
| |
|
| |
Step2: Sample of your NEW settings. |
| |

Delete the text in your Incoming Mail POP3 box. Type the word
LOCALHOST in to the POP3 text box.
Leave the text that is in your Account Name box. At the end of the text
add a # symbol then enter the info you wrote down from step 1, in
this example the text was mail.server.com.
Now save your new settings. In Outlook Express just click the OK button
and your done. The next time your email software checks for mail Mail
Unknown will automatically configure itself for your email. |
| |
If you have more then one email account setup on your software
you will need to repeat this process for each of your mail account.
Remember this is only a sample. The current text in boxes
and
above will be different on your computer. The Account Name text you have
may not be like the example. Instead of You it could
have You@server.com in it. In this case you would change it to You@server.com#mail.server.com
just as the example instructs.
IMPORTANT: How to Use Mail Unknown correctly.
- DO NOT shut Mail Unknown off, EVER! You need to keep Mail Unknown running at all times just like your Anti-Virus software.
- Once you have completed the set-up above, do a Send-Receive or Check email with your email software. This will start Mail Unknown's spam blocking for your email accounts. This only has to be done one time.
- That's it. Leave Mail Unknown running all the time. You do not need to bring up the Mail Unknown program to check your email. Check your email with your email client just as you always have in the past.
